Growth Mindset Week 15

For this Growth Mindset blog post I have chosen to focus on feedback from others and how it affects me and my work ethic.

This class is a wonderful outlet for feedback being that every assignment I submit can be reviewed and commented on by others in my class. In fact, their grade depends on giving feedback on my projects. This class has put me in an unfamiliar position as I have never been reviewed this rigorously before.

One thing that I know I have learned from this experience is that many perspectives are better than one and that my work isn't perfect and that's ok. These two things coincide with each other because they both relate to eyes on my work.

In this class, I have seen many different responses to my blog posts with constructive criticism. The amount I received was astonishing in all honesty. People weren't critical of me because I missed a comma or spelled a word wrong. People in this class were offering me different ideas on how to tell my stories and they were providing ways I could improve. I did not expect this kind of feedback from my peers because I had honestly never seen it before.

This class has taught me how to receive feedback and directly apply it to my work without being discouraged. This will be beneficial for me in life because I now know that not everyone is out to tell me what I am doing wrong but many people want to help me do better.
