Topic Brainstorm

 Link

One topic that I am very interested in possibly creating a storybook about is the "Gods and Goddesses of Olympus." These stories have captivated my attention for years and I am excited to finally get the chance to actually contribute to this storytelling conversation. When I think of ideas that I could write about my mind automatically darts to telling stories about "The Big Three" as in Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon. I grew up very interested in stories like these and I am very eager for the opportunity to continue my understanding of Greek mythology.Link

Another topic that I found very interesting was the Land of Oz stories. Up until recently, I had only heard of the classic movie "The Wizard of Oz" and I was unaware that there was an entire book series that the movie came from. As I understand it these books were written quite a long time ago and there are 14 books that were written about the Land of Oz. This topic sounds very interesting to me because I find these stories about faraway lands or secret getaways very intriguing and I would like to take this chance to dive into this type of literature.Link

Another topic that I find very interesting is the stories and myths about Urban Legends. these types of stories are particularly intriguing because they aren't happening in faraway lands, they could be taking place in your backyard. I also appreciate the flexibility of these stories because of how many of them there are. I could pick from hundreds of stories about creatures or cryptids that could be living in my state. These stories have always given me thrills because I have always thought there may be an opportunity that I could find one of these creatures. I am excited to maybe learn more about these creatures and write about them as well.Link

Last but not least I have picked my last possible story topic to be over the OU ghost stories. I am very interested in learning more about my university and when I first learned about this storybook opportunity I immediately wanted to write something OU centric. With this topic, I can learn more about my university as well as enjoy stories about ghosts in the buildings I am taking classes in. The integration of OU stories and this class is something I would love to capitalize on and this storybook would be an amazing opportunity to do so.Link

Reading Notes Part B "Deaths Messengers"

Deaths Messengers One day a giant was walking along a highway when a man jumped out at him and told him to stop. The man said, "I am death, you have to listen to me." The giant denied him and told death to move out of the way. They disagreed and began to wrestle. It was a long and tough battle but the giant gained the upper hand. He defeated death and left him on the side of the road. Death laid on the road concerned with what the world would look like without him. He was concerned for the people who wouldn't die in his absence. The world would be full of people and nobody would be able to move. Then a young man walked up out of nowhere and started to assist death without knowing who he was. He let death drink from his canteen and he nursed him back to health. Death finally was able to speak to him when he said," I am death and I am extremely grateful for your help. Because of this, I promise to not kill you without warning. When your time comes I will send ...

"Why the Bat Flies By Night" Reading Notes

The Bush Rat Bibliography: This story is part of the Nigeria unit. Story source: Folk Stories From Southern Nigeria by Elphinstone Dayrell (1910). One day the Bush Rat and the Bat and the bat were feeding together. They always fed together, just like they did everything else together. But, one day the bat decided to turn on the Bush Rat. They were both eating soup when the Bush Rat asked the Bat why his soup was always so good. The bat usually prepared his soup beforehand and just took some extra care while making it, but he decided to tell a lie. The bat told the Rat that before he starts cooking the soup he boils himself in the broth. The Bat said that his flesh is so sweet that it flavors the broth. The Rat was convinced that that is how the soup was so good so later that night he went home and told his wife that he would make soup for the family that night. He started making the soup and as soon as his wife turned away he jumped into the pot of boiling water to "fl...
