I am having a great time writing the blogs for my Mythology and Folklore class, They have really helped me grind my creative gears together every day. I think writing is a lost cause for the general population today and programs like these where an individual writes this much every week are very beneficial.
I think my work in this class has lead to a greater want to write every day. Although it has been tough to get started I love the process of reading a story and then rewriting it to make it my own. One of my favorite times where I took creative liberty was with one of my recent stories. It was a twist on "Why the Bat Flies by Night." With this story, I switched the roles of the antagonist and the protagonist and the story came ended with an entirely different ending. This class is driving creativity and it allows me to think of many different ways a story could go.
Another one of my favorite parts of this class is the opportunity to view others' work. I myself am not as "creatively gifted" as others and it is truly a treat to read others' work who have more of an inclination to write. This past week I read a storybook made by Cate. She developed a choose your own story about the descent into the underworld and it may be one of my favorite things I have ever read. This class has given me the opportunity to develop my own work because of the things I've seen in other classmate's work.
